Summary
  • Position Summary
    • This position is for someone interested in joining a hands-on, diverse scientific team working on the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence Acute Care Research & Rural Disparities (AC-COBRE) project, a program of the MaineHealth Institute for Research (MHIR). This role provides support for a wide variety of administrative and professional activities for this biomedical research team. The Program Coordinator directly supports the AC-COBRE Program Director, Dr. Doug Sawyer and the project's Associate Program Director, Dr. Tom Gridley - with indirect support for the four clinical Project Leaders.

      The responsibilities of this role include:
      • Supports the AC-COBRE leadership team with event, meeting, and travel planning for a series of onsite and off-site hybrid programs, including monthly AC-COBRE team meetings, and remote and onsite External Advisory Committee meetings. This support includes calendar scheduling, space reservation, food, technology, meeting notes/minutes, travel arrangements, and visitors' schedules.
      • Supports the Community Engagement, Bioethics & Outreach Core leadership team.
      • Curates materials for AC-COBRE updates for the annual NIH progress report, the MHIR annual report, and other initiatives as requested.
      • Maintains the AC-COBRE project's publication/presentation list, as well as public access compliance.
      • Schedules and participates in quarterly budget review meetings.
      • Administratively coordinates the annual Pilot Project Program.
      • Submits expense reports and supply orders, as appropriate.
    • Skills and characteristics that are critical to this role include: professionalism, project management skills to track details over many concurrent projects, timeliness, flexibility, comfort with Microsoft software applications, ability to work independently while maintaining good communication with the Program Director and Co-Investigator.

      This position is based primarily on-site at our Scarborough, ME location, with some responsibilities at the MaineHealth Maine Medical Center - Portland on occasion.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in related field.
    • License/Certifications: N/A
    • Experience: See "Education." Approximately one to two years related work experience.
    • Knowledge of project management, and educational practices.
    • Basic knowledge of healthcare systems, with previous experience in healthcare industry and customer service preferred.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including drafts of correspondence and other written materials.
    • Strong software and computer skills, including Microsoft Office (including Power Point, Access, and Excel), database development and website development
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Ability to work both independently and to collaborate with teams of individuals in diverse settings.
    • Analytical ability to gather and interpret data in situation where the problems are moderately complex.
    • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
