Leidos Defense Systems Sector is seeking a talented Engineering Project Manager to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. Our offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, provide responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Land Systems, Platform Development Division focuses on development and production of weapon systems and components for military and aerospace customers. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for leading programs involving diverse engineering and manufacturing skillsets. Key responsibilities include ensuring timely completion of program deliverables, tracking program costs, schedule, and performance. This position encompasses the complete lifecycle of a program from concept development through design, development, prototype and production. The selected candidate will be responsible for identifying risk, developing mitigation plans, as well as collection and analyzing program performance metrics. The selected candidate will serve as the primary customer interface for projects, and will brief division and business area leadership on program performance. The position requires strong communication skills, ability to lead cross-functional teams, and demonstrated experience exhibiting good judgement. Some travel for meetings and test events may be required.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Generally has 8+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
  • Demonstrated ability / experience leading significant program management tasks with high complexity and annual budgets of at least $5M
  • Demonstrated experience working in leadership positions with full earned value management requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and track program baselines for design & development, manufacturing, and test programs to mature Prototypes into Production
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully engage, motivate, and retain a diverse workforce of both engineers and production personnel in a collaborative environment to meet quality, schedule and cost commitments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer interaction and presentation skills
  • Candidates must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
  • Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area


Other Qualifications:

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Project Management Professional (PMP)

Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI)

Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of:
  • AS9100 quality systems and compliance
  • Navigating DoD acquisition processes and methods
  • Risk identification, analysis, and management techniques
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles, design and manufacturing processes, and quality systems
  • Subcontract management including creating SOW, and managing technical, schedule and budget for both large and small subcontractors.
  • Proposal management including identifying key partners, developing statements of work for subcontracts, planning and writing proposal response.

Pay Range: Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
