The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a PROGRAM MANAGER II to be responsible for managing and oversight of multiple School of Nursing departments' grant/contract related activities. The position directly reports to the SON Director of Research Operations. This position is responsible for assisting faculty and staff in the preparation of applications for internal and external funding, and post-award management. Specific activities include assistance with budget development, budget revision, agency guideline interpretation, file management, and all documentation related to various progress reports, just-in-time submissions, along with no-cost extensions, data use agreement submissions, and contractual agreements. Additionally, this individual assists multiple departments with requisition assistance for purchasing grant related items and compliance relative to University and sponsor policies and program announcements. This position will assist with the management of departmental sponsored programs' post-award activities (interaction with departmental and centralized grant administration and grant accounting personnel activities.) This individual must be willing to support the mission of the SON and adhere to all University policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists faculty and staff in preparation of grant applications for internal and external funding by providing input into the development of the research plan and/or program objectives based on the funding opportunity announcement with responsibility for ensuring timelines are achieved which also includes proposal budget development, budget revision, agency guideline interpretation, sponsor interaction, timeline development, file management, regulatory compliance and other aspects of proposal development and submission.
2. Responsible for administratively managing multiple large or complex School of Nursing grant program applications and awarded programs.
3. Responsible for organizing and tracking Oracle workflows and monitoring project accounts and producing monthly budget analyses.
4. Assists the Director with managing multiple departmental sponsored programs pre-award activities (ability to interact successfully with departmental, centralized grant administration and grant accounting personnel), ensuring regulatory requirements are met, identifying research opportunities for faculty, and notify the Director on timely issues/exceptions affecting grant proposals/awards.
5. Facilitates compliance relative to University and SON and sponsor policies, program announcements, and procedures.
6. Responsible for budgeting, networking, technical training and assistance, grant and report review and submission. Perform complex financial analyses and/or revenue projects. May provide recommendations on line items.
7. Assist the Director in preparation of financial and annual reports.
8. Ethical conduct is a fundamental expectation for every UAB community member. All employees must abide by the standards of behavior outlined in the UAB Enterprise Code of Conduct. 9. Performs other related duties as directed to support the missions of the School of Nursing.
10. Supervise assigned staff performing pre-award activities.

(Annual Salary: $51,270 - $83,300)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience required grants, contracts, and/or program coordination preferred. Work experience will not substitute for the educational requirement. Master's degree is preferred.

An individual that has Oracle financial module certifications is preferred. Well developed interpersonal skills are desired as this position requires communications using a variety of media, with internal and external constituencies. Individual should be proficient in reading and writing English. This individual must be detail oriented, initiative driven, and adhere to professional accountability. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Adobe, and internet search capabilities are highly desirable. All work performed must be in accordance with SON and UAB policies and procedures and UAB Enterprise Code of Conduct.
