Responsibilities

The Learning Systems Institute seeks candidates for a Research Faculty II position. This research faculty member will serve as the Primary Investigator and Project Director on a newly awarded contract for an education development project in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Additional responsibilities include providing technical support for other international development education projects around the world. Over time, the successful candidate will be expected to submit funding proposals for other large international development projects. The successful candidate should be based in the Tallahassee area and be prepared to engage in extensive travel abroad.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide leadership and vision for the program, manage and mentor program staff and provide support to short-term technical team members and other support faculty.
  • Supervise the strategic planning and development of work plans, processes, schedules, and overall program events and operations related to the LSI/FSU Scope of Work.
  • Oversee the design and facilitation of program activities, planning, and logistics for ongoing events, workshops, and face-to-face and distance learning activities for activities within the LSI/FSU Scope of Work.
  • Manage overall program budget in coordination with LSI/FSU administrators to ensure budget discipline and compliance with USAID and FSU regulations.
  • Oversee program reporting and communications requirements for FSU offices in the U.S. and local administrators, funders, and partners in Bangladesh.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all contracted products for the United Stated Agency for International Development (USAID/Bangladesh) Prime contractor.
  • Disseminate research findings through national symposia, peer-reviewed journal articles, and international conferences.

Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate/terminal degree in Education or Master's degree with 10 or more years' experience leading international education development projects with progressively more responsibility and a demonstrated record of achievement in international research and development activities.
  • Demonstrated success in leading large technical teams to produce and deliver creative work (curricula, training modules, reports, guides, etc.) in the international education development field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key components of evidence-based literacy pedagogies, related developmental stages/growth trajectories, and related assessment methods.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in-person and via email and electronic platforms.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) frequently and for extended periods of time.
  • Familiarity with the education system in Bangladesh.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience
  • International travel experience in Bangladesh and other LMICs across the world
  • Demonstrated success in leading education development activities within Bangladesh
  • Fluency in Bengali/Bangla and competency in additional languages
  • Familiarity with donor-funded project compliance requirements and reporting processes (i.e., USAID, UNICEF, FCDO, etc.)
