As a Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist), you will have the opportunity to:
• Coordinate a variety of professional scientific work related to CalRecycle's Extended Producer Responsibility, Circular Economy, and Recycled Content Procurement activities.
• Serve as a technical and policy expert and independently perform environmental and natural resource management analysis; develop and implement regulations; develop policy and legislative proposals; write regulatory and compliance documents; prepare non-routine correspondence and answer non-routine questions from the public; and perform other related work to evaluate and implement CalRecycle's extended producer responsibility programs.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, supervisors, managers, and other decision-makers to ensure effective execution of department priorities.
• Provide consultative advice to governmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations and businesses.
• Travel throughout the state approximately 5% of the time.

This position requires that you possess and maintain a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your applications. This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.
