Senior Project Manager for a long-term contract assignment for our client, onsite in
Chattanooga, TN.
Engineering/Technical Project Management experience required.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, direction, management, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects according to specifications, within budget costs, from initiation through completion. The Senior Project Manager leads Joint Project Teams (JPTs), applies professional principles, practices, and techniques to lead project teams, and controls project schedule, cost, and performance risk to ensure projects are completed within a certain set of constraints (e.g., time, budget, people, quality, materials) and to a high standard of quality. This role is generally assigned large, multifaceted projects. The Senior Project Manager serves as the single point of contact regarding specific projects and assumes the leadership role in safely managing the project.

Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Direction: Develop comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals and coordinate various technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
- Budget Management: Manage large project budgets over $25 million or a portfolio of projects with an aggregate total over $75 million for all active projects assigned.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate Joint Project Teams (JPTs) to ensure collaborative efforts meet project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with projects, ensuring projects meet specifications and are completed on time and within budget.
- Performance Monitoring: Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the main point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates and managing expectations.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all projects are delivered with a high level of quality and in compliance with industry standards and company guidelines.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and corporate policies, providing detailed project reports and documentation as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a technical field, or equivalent education, training, and/or related work experience. A Master's degree is preferred but not required.
- Certification: Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) within one year of appointment or assuming the Senior PM position.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing large, complex projects with substantial budgets.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, risk management, and problem-solving skills.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification/licensure in a professional field of study (e.g., PE, CPA, CFP, etc.) is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated desire to excel in the professional field of study.
