Technical Accounting Manager

They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Accounting Manager to join their dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical accounting, a deep understanding of current accounting standards and the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information. The Technical Accounting Manager role requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the implementation and compliance of new accounting standards and regulations
• Provide technical accounting guidance and support to the finance team and other departments
• Prepare and review complex financial statements and disclosures
• Conduct technical accounting research and prepare position papers on various accounting issues
• Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process and ensure timely and accurate delivery of audit requests
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
• Lead and manage special projects related to accounting, financial reporting and process improvements
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, etc.)
• Provide training and mentoring to junior staff on technical accounting matters
• Stay up to date with industry trends and changes in accounting standards

Technical Accounting Manager Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; CPA certification preferred
• 5+ years of experience in public accounting or a technical accounting role in the insurance industry
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements and technical accounting standards
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting issues to non-accountants
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Experience with financial systems such as SAP, Oracle or similar ERP systems is a plus
