As a Tier II Support Engineer, you will be a key member of our technical team responsible for implementing and maintaining our clients' network infrastructure. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the reliability, security, and monitoring of the network architecture to support organizations' operations and growth. This role requires a deep understanding of networking principles, hands-on experience with network equipment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Network:
  • Work with our senior engineers to implement robust and scalable network solutions to meet organizations' current and future requirements.
  • Monitor existing network architecture and resolve performance, reliability, and security issues.
  • Deploy and configure network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other devices.

Network Security:
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's network infrastructure from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats.
  • Configure and manage firewall policies, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and other security appliances.
  • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks.

Network Monitoring and Optimization:
  • Monitor network performance, uptime, and availability using network monitoring tools.
  • Analyze network traffic patterns, identify bottlenecks, and optimize network performance.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and perform root cause analysis to implement effective solutions and prevent recurrence.

Documentation and Standards:
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, topology diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Establish and enforce network standards, best practices, and compliance requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR).

Team Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems administrators, software developers, and security analysts, to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with other systems and applications.
  • Handle escalated items from junior staff, providing guidance, knowledge sharing, and technical expertise.
  • Participate in technology evaluation, vendor selection, and procurement processes.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:
  • Proven experience as a network engineer, with at least 3 years in a Tier II role.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, and MPLS.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Sonicwall, Juniper, Palo Alto Networks, and Arista.
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nagios, SolarWinds).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CCNP, CCIE, CISSP Preferred.
  • Experience with M365, 3CX and MSP/MSSP environments a plus.

Required Certifications:
  • Sec+ or equivalent.
