GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.

Performs advanced and/or supervisory work (senior-level) in system analysis and Software Testing and Quality Assurance (QA) in support of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), Information Technology Services Division (ITSD). Provides direction to QA Automation team members and ensures quality assurance timelines are met. Defines and audits quality assurance automation review, testing, systems reliability, and availability services. Verifies automated test reporting is integrated to ALM tools and test suites are incorporated with deployments across the test environments. Establishes work plans, prioritizes, audits, and coordinates the work of others. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Lead a team of automated testers to create a plan for implementing automation across the major TXDMV software applications to ensure best practices for automation.

Coordinate the planning, design, development, implementation, support, and maintenance of automated test repositories.

Responsible for defining test scenarios that will function best for automation and planning the implementation of automated test suites.

Responsible for test data management to ensure automation continues to function across functional, regression and integration test cycles.

Perform code reviews with development staff to provide guidance on necessary areas required for functional and regression testing.

Responsible for creating and managing test readiness review checklist and performing review to ensure testing is ready to proceed.

Responsible for development and maintenance of documentation and reporting for automated testing results and integration of results with ALM tools.

Responsible for defect management and ensuring all defects are retested and validated.

Travels up to 5% of the time. Travel by car (may include flying). May include overnight travel. May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.

Required to attend work regularly and adhere to approved work hours in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major in computer science or related field plus five (5) years of experience in Selenium/Java/TestNG automated testing. (8) years of Software QA testing experience. (3) years of experience writing and executing SQL statements. Additional related experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.)

Licensure and/or Certification - Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.

Preferred Requirements

Three (3) years Software QA management experience, (3) years of experience working with Cucumber BDD framework, (2) years working with JMETER performance testing, and one or more of these certifications (or equivalent) preferred: Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA), Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE), ISTQB Certified Tester, Foundation Level (CTFL), Quality Improvement Associate Certification (CQIA), Certified Test Manager (CTM), and/or Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position is eligible for remote work in the state of Texas (subject to change). Must attend meetings/training at headquarters in Austin, Texas as required by management.

  • Remote work location is in a quiet environment free of background people and noise during business hours.

A valid Class "C" driver's license is required. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within ninety (90) days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct department business.
