Reporting to the Associate Dean of Advancement and Communications, the Web Operations Manager will be responsible for website performance, administration and management by collaborating with unit team members and project owners. The Web Operations Manager is expected to work independently to provide consultation to internal stakeholders on topics such as, but not limited to, engagement with web presence and email marketing tools for prospective students and other strategic audiences. This position will work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders across all areas of the school.

This position:
- Evaluates target audience behaviors and web performance for marketing efforts, captures & measures data points, and implements updates that align with key student recruitment and strategic goals.
- Creates journey maps, wireframes, storyboards, outlines, or other tools that help guide project owners through project iterations.
- Manages and maintains consistent functionality of our websites through audits, conducting gap analysis, establishing regular and ongoing `health check' processes & procedures
- Works closely with team members, content creators, and project owners to understand goals/needs/requirements; implements website changes, enhancements, and optimizations.
- Collaborates with peers and colleagues to test and enhance the overall user experience, ensuring that websites are intuitive and meet user needs.
- Develop SEO strategies and best practices to improve search engine visibility and drive key organic traffic to our websites.
- Holds primary responsibility for managing schedules and building email communications on our platform (e.g. Eloqua) monitoring campaign performance, collaborating with team members to meet goals.
- Coordinates, evaluates, and executes timely content updates, responsible for making sure all website elements, including forms, links, and multimedia, are functional and error-free.
- Ensures content meets style guide, editorial, and accessibility guidelines and follows the UW-Madison/School of Human Ecology brand voice and tone.
Responsibilities: Leads and participates in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of websites. Serves as a subject matter expert, consultant, and main point of contact to internal and external stakeholders regarding website support.
  • 20% Plans, implements, manages, monitors, and upgrades the unit's websites including intranets
  • 15% Ensures website functionality and maintains existing website operation including implementing the content management system (CMS), making content updates, conducting content audits, and updating computer programming languages which may include HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • 10% Responds and troubleshoots website issues
  • 5% Ensures website quality, efficiency, and compliance with accessibility, security, privacy, and other university requirements and laws
  • 25% Strategizes ways to improve the user experience of the website and manages information architecture strategy
  • 20% Monitors web traffic and website performance, and assesses performance to optimize the website and to identify, prevent, and resolve issues
  • 5% Collaborates with others to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the unit's standards

Education:

Qualifications:
The School of Human Ecology is seeking an experienced web operations manager with a creative and strategic mindset to join the Advancement and Communications team.

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in web operations, front-end development, or a related role.
- Professional experience with a content management system (CMS); WordPress is preferred
- Knowledge of and experience implementing the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
- Proven experience with measurement tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEO concepts
- Knowledge of and experience with UX best practices, methodologies and tools including user research and testing, tracking, and measurement.
- Excellent project management and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Extensive knowledge of web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and responsive design, with a strong focus on digital accessibility and progressive enhancement.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and work both independently and collaboratively, handling multiple priorities and tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms, Eloqua is preferred

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. For this position, up to 2 days/week may be remote.

The starting annual salary for this position is listed as $85,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
