The incumbent performs a variety of tasks under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I. The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) provides professional, quality service and accurate information to the public by accepting, investigating, and resolving the more varied and complex complaints of housing discrimination, denial of services by a public accommodation, and acts of hate violence under the Fair Employment and Housing Act, the Ralph Civil Rights Act and the Unruh Civil Rights Act. This is a full journey level position.

The California Civil Rights Department supports hybrid work schedules, including telework days, for employees who can perform their essential functions remotely, as operationally allowed. Travel expenses from your home to your assigned headquarters location is considered a normal commute and are not reimbursable.

    A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be submitted with your application. The SOQ is a narrative discussion of how the candidate's education, training, experience, and skills meet the desirable qualifications and demonstrate the candidate's ability to perform the job duties listed in this bulletin. The SOQ serves as a documentation of each candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.

    When completing the SOQ, you must title the page "Statement of Qualifications" and include your name and the Job Control number at the top of each page. You must list each question, and provide your answer below each question. When completing the SOQ please include all relevant experience, education, and training for each question and explain your answers thoroughly. Responses should be no longer than two pages in total length, single-spaced, and 12-point Arial font. Your SOQ must address the following:

  • Describe your experience and role in analyzing a complex program issue. What was the situation/issue, what did you do, and what was the outcome?
  • Describe your experience in dealing with a variety of individuals at all levels in an organization, including your ability to effectively communicate and interact both verbally and in writing.
