Job Description

Clerical Associate 4's assigned to the Business Office and Outpatient Registration, Perform all duties related to financial counseling, registration, cashiering and supervision. Assignments are based on daily need and available coverage.

These tasks include but are not limited to:
1. Conduct patient interviews to obtain identifying information, such as demographic, biographic and Insurance status for Registration/Check-in. Information is entered accurately, into the EPIC System.
2. Educate patients on Hospital Polices and document requirements for Insurance Screening and/or NYC Cares.
3. Enroll patients into my chart and Imprivata Palms scanner.
4. Obtain signatures on registration forms including TPO, Bill of Rights, HIPPA Notice of Privacy, Health Care Proxy and General Consents.
5. Scan insurance cards, Photo ID, and other supporting documentation in EPIC
6. Assist patients in making or rescheduling appointments in EPIC
7. Perform systems checks to verify insurance coverage including ePaces for Medicaid.
8. Verify third party coverage and obtain authorizations when required.
9. Revise patient information in EPIC based on documentation provided by patients.
10. As a Certified Application Counselor (CAC), screen and enroll eligible uninsured patients for insurance coverage via NYSOH.
11. As a Certified Application Counselor, Complete and Submit Monthly CAC and Medicaid Grant reports to Manager for review.
12. Enroll our Disabled, Aged (65+), and blind uninsured patients for insurance coverage via Human Resource Administration (HRA) using AIM.
13. Accept Patient payment of cash, checks, money order, and debit/credit cards.
14. Issue payments receipts via EPIC payment function.
15. Reconcile all payments received against receipts issued and prepare daily proof of cash reconciliation report.
16. Submit Case payments, receipts and reports to Property office daily.
17. Update patient installment agreements and ensure payment amounts are accurate.
18. Supervise the activities of Clerical 2's and 3's in their work assignments. Conduct training as needed.
19. Provided coverage in other clerical/departmental areas as needed.
20. Perform other assignments as deemed necessary by the department.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department
of Education or a recognized accrediting organization; and
2. Eighteen (18) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience

Skills Requirement:
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
