Job Description
1. Responsible for screening uninsured or underinsured outpatients to identify insurance coverage or enrollment eligibility. Screenings most often occur as walk-ins or scheduled appointments with the patients.
2. Assist outpatients who do not qualify for insurance enrollment with charity care programs
3. Ensure all documentation is complete and submitted for program applications
4. Scan patient ID, insurance card(s), referral forms (if applicable), and consent forms obtained from the patient into document required systems
5. Follow up on the status of applications until a coverage determination is made
6. Document patient information clearly and completely in the Health Information System (HIS)
7. Interact with other departments to identify patient status determinations and changes
8. Supervises personnel performing data processing functions in the areas of data entry, data control/coding, production control
9. Under the direction of the unit head, assists in supervising personnel performing responsible clerical and related activities by processing, recording, financial counseling, checking, and maintaining records, furnishing information, and preparing reports.
10. Refer accounts requiring escalation to immediate supervisor for timely resolve
11. Complete all necessary training sessions and system certification needed to effectively perform the day-to-day functions of the position
12. Follow departmental guidelines for the authorization process of both Manuel and system-related submissions followed by documentation in appropriate application/systems
13. Perform all other duties, as assigned by the Patient Access Manager

Minimum Qualifications
1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and
2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
