General Information:

JMU Libraries Communications and Outreach Team has an opening for a Federal Work Study (FWS) Student Assistant position to work the AY 2024-2025. The Student Assistant will work in a shared Rose Library space with remote work a possibility. This is a 10-15 hour per week position with flexibility for scheduling around class schedule.

The Communications & Outreach Student Assistant supports the goals of the Communications & Outreach (C&O) department within JMU Libraries. They will help to convey information about the Libraries to the JMU community, positively represent the Libraries to prospective students and their families, and bring a fresh, student-focused eye to the work of the C&O department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with Libraries outreach events, including staffing tables, hanging posters, adding events to the Libraries Events Calendar, and other similar duties.
• Assist in creating and scheduling social media content.
• Assist with Libraries outreach programs, including book displays.
• Provide necessary feedback and advice on student-focused outreach programs.
• Other similar duties as assigned, with potential opportunity to pursue personal interest projects.

Conditions of Employment:

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).

Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
