About The Division

General description

Join the Audit Division team as a Senior Tax Lead! Work involves complex to highly complex tax audits on large, complex, domestic, foreign, and multinational corporations with multiple locations, product lines, or business segments. Works under general to minimal supervision with moderate to considerate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.



Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting; a bachelor's or master's degree in finance with 12 hours in accounting; or any bachelor's degree with a total of 24 semester hours of accounting.

Experience: Must be a Tax Auditor III, currently employed within the Audit Division.

In this role you will:

Knowledge of:

  • Accounting, business practices, and auditing standards and procedures, general legal contracts and business law
  • Numerical analysis
  • Audit Division's internal auditing policies and procedures
  • Numerical analysis
  • Sales tax laws and auditing techniques


Skill in:

  • Identifying mathematical, financial and/or statistical irregularities
  • Able to use a personal computer and Windows Application software
  • Effectively conveying information and encouraging an exchange of ideas (Communication)
  • Identifying, defining, and solving problems (Problem Solving)


Ability to:

  • Learn, interpret and apply tax laws and use Audit's specialized software applications
  • Evaluate accounting systems and records for accuracy and legal conformance
  • Compose clear and concise audit reports
  • Trace financial transactions through accounting records to documents of original entry for verification purposes
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy of state employees, taxpayers, and other members of the public. (Security and Privacy)
  • Follow all agency confidentiality, privacy, and information security policies and procedures. (Security and Privacy)
  • Appropriately store, secure, and protect sensitive records and other confidential documents and data in accordance with the agency's certified Records Retention Schedule. (Security and Privacy)
  • Seek guidance and clarification from relevant agency specialists when potential confidential issues arise. (Security and Privacy)
  • Use discretion and appropriate judgement in communicating confidential and sensitive information. (Security and Privacy)
