Job Description

Serves under the Senior Director of Unified Communications within the EITS Infrastructure organization. Provides management of initiatives, work efforts and projects assigned to the EITS Infrastructure Team. Provides mentorship to team members across the service lines within EITS Infrastructure and Network organization. This role will plan, design, develop and launch efficient infrastructure, financial and operations systems in support of core organizational functions that support the NYC H+H business processes. The Unified Communications Project Manager will be responsible for generating and compiling reports based on findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. This role will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical:
  • Own the functional requirements link between the customer, development team and any third-party regarding infrastructure functionality, throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collecting, understanding, and transmitting the business requirements for the project, and translating these into technical specifications and detailed test plans.
  • Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Communicates needed changes to development team.
  • Possesses understanding in the areas of infrastructure configurations, programming, database and system design as it relates to hardware, VM ware, Storage (SAN), Databases, Wintel, Security and interconnectivity.
  • Develops and establishes processes to ensure the solutions being delivered are transitioned from project deployment to a fully supported process to include redundancy, disaster recovery, business continuity, data integrity and security including access and storage.
  • Fully endorses and adheres to the change management processes established for adds, moves, changes and project deployments including the onboarding and decommissioning of components through the Service Now application.


Project Execution:
  • Assists in enforcement of project deadlines and schedules.
  • Communicates and applies project standards.
  • Manages resources in accordance with project schedule.
  • Establish and ensure adherence to change management for appropriate deployment including a method or procedure (MOP) and back out plans as appropriate.
  • Weekly reports to be produced for the project manager showing progress against outstanding milestones, status, resource requirements, issues, risks and dependencies.
  • Day to day management of change requests in relation to the project plans to ensure agreed deadlines are met.

Communication:
  • Facilitate communications at all levels of management including the use of tools, aids, presentations, webex, recordings, documented action logs and any other means to ensure continuity in expectations.
  • Collaborates with any and all EITS departments to include compliance with standards, procedures, change management and security compliance supporting hardware and software in both cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Facilitates the scheduling and arrangement of meetings and workshops necessary to keep the project moving along.
  • Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

Analysis:
  • Analyze and document infrastructure processes.
  • Document workflows and results of any technical analysis and obtain sign-off from client on the specifications


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Department Preferences

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Requirements:
  • Computer Science, Data Management and Business Acumen within the IT disciplines
  • Project Management
  • The use of Service Now (S-NOW)
  • Microsoft applications; word, excel, PowerPoint, project and Visio
  • Certificates obtained across the IT spectrum are nice to have but not required

Years of Experience:
  • 8 years within the Information Technology supporting infrastructure and application
  • 4 years of experience and use of Project Management processes and tools
  • BA and/or 8 years of experience in the related field within Information Technology in any or all of the disciplines mentions; data, infrastructure, hardware, software, telecom and/or network.
