Job Description

Under broad guidance and direction from the Unified Communications (UC) Sr. Director/Director/Division Lead of Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS). This position, Senior Network Engineer UC, is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, administration, and technical documentation of the network Facilities & Datacenters, LANs, WANs and wireless across the enterprise infrastructure. This individual will oversee daily operations of systems support functions and personnel for vastly complex problems that generally require in-depth analysis and creative thinking. Proactively Identifies errors that are often difficult to detect and performs root cause analysis in finding resolution to network systems failures or faults. Responsible for managing major projects and IT functions that impact multiple departments/branches of the organization and the availability of mission-critical IT services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision, troubleshoot complex routing / switching issues, willing to perform x-connects or device rack mounting
  • Hands on experience in design, implementation & administration of data/VoIP networks
  • Assisting with the research, selection, development, and integration of new technologies to meet the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • This position requires strong hands-on technical skills to provide high-level technical services, design, implement and troubleshoot technology related problems that might include routing, datacenter design, intermittent packet loss, latency issues, system connectivity, and equipment failure.
  • Advance knowledge and skills in advance routing & switching protocols, including network systems solutions and analyzation of network performance and enhancements using disciplined network administration processes.
  • Experience providing high-level direction during the troubleshooting of complex service outages.
  • Manages all contracted WAN providers and their services and is accountable for ensuring delivery from the vendors of WAN service as per defined SLA's.
  • Collaborates with the Network Service Owner in aligning goals, objectives, and work plans for the delivery of timely and quality technology services.
  • Oversees administration of network Infrastructure and the resources on which it relies, including vendors, dependent services\organizations, enterprise engineering.
  • Providing advance technical skills, technical oversight and support for the design, availability, optimization, performance, and capacity management of network services, troubleshooting of various enterprise network technologies including but not limited to LAN, WLAN, WAN, SDWAN, Network Load balancers, VIPs BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, VPN, WAP, NAC, NAT, SNMP, QoS, VLANs, ACLs, MPBGP TCP/IP protocols and RADIUS.
  • In Depth technical knowledge and experience of CISCO routers and switches (Nexus), advanced routing/switching, platform configuration and basic network security.
  • Working with Wide Area Network (WAN) and Internet carriers during implementations and outages
  • Strong experience in Network Security IPSec VPN, AAA Architecture, DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, SMTP, Firewalls, Infoblox, IPAM, Cisco Wi-Fi, Prime, Cisco ACS, Cisco VOIP basic, Cisco VPN Gateways
  • Hands on experience in voice, Wi-Fi gateway and controller setup and maintenance
  • Strong in troubleshooting different OSI layer issues and performance analysis by using sniffer tools.
  • Experience in supporting telecom equipment's troubleshooting, Data center Activities.
  • Documenting IT related inventory (MDB, NIMS, Diagram)
  • Operates and maintains networks, tracks significant problems, monitors performance, and performs upgrades to hardware and software as required.
  • Following establish organization change and release management procedures, naming standard and other internal processes and procedures for managing daily activities and changes.
  • Defines and Maintains documentation regarding network configurations, operating procedures, and service records relating to network hardware and software.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends in order to proactively identify areas for growth, improvement, and development with the capability to implement industry best practices
  • Leading network project implementations and implement, and integrating network solutions based on Cisco and third-party technologies.
  • Performs trending analysis for chronic issue resolution and remediates escalated network issues.
  • Analyzes converged network traffic and reports to management on results.
  • Driving improvements in network process, efficiency, and standardization
  • Leading and guiding junior network staff


Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline; and
2. Six (6) years of experience in the field of data processing and computer systems and applications, of which three (3) years must have been in a supervisory role; and
3. Strong technical knowledge

Department Preferences

Certification(S)/NYS Licenses/Education:
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and or
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and or
  • Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) certification. or
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or, Information Systems or
  • 7 years of similar work experience


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Requirements:
  • Cisco switches, routers, VPN, VOIP, and wireless access
  • in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of System Network design and management

  • 7 years of Computer related, Networking and or Design Experience

  • General Networking and Office equipment (Copper and fiber testers, computer, scanner, printer, phones etc.)
