Job Description

The ServiceNow Engineer will be responsible for the analysis, design, development and implementation of software projects on the ServiceNow platform while aligning to Service Management best practices. This role requires good communications skills to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and the ServiceNow team in developing business solutions. This position will assist the ServiceNow team in monitoring and maintaining the platform's performance and help resolve any issues that may arise. A successful ServiceNow Engineer will be a person who has a solid understanding of IT Service Management processes and principles as well as proven experience in scripting and software programming languages.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in defining, configuring and deploying integrations to meet ServiceNow IT Service Management project deliverables.
  • IT Service Management experience
  • Create and maintain process documentation, configurations and customizations documentation.
  • Customer engagement in the form of reaching out to support the gathering of requirements, gap fit and support of customer project deliverables.
  • Assisting in the development of unit testing case examples and QA testing.
  • Perform manual data entry as needed, data analysis normalization of data and creation of import configuration files.
  • Assist with the development of ideas and specifications for data analysis, including what data should be included in various reports and how the data should be displayed
  • Responsible for documenting assigned tasks and data requests into team project log, and ensuring that deadlines are met, bringing attention to any obstacles to timely project completion
  • Support training initiatives, coaching for ITSM and inter-process (Incident,Problem,SRM, Change, Release) usage


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience

Department Preferences

Certification(S)/NYS Licenses/Education:
  • ServiceNow Certified Systems Administrator (CSA) strongly desired
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) optional

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Requirements:
  • ServiceNow administration
  • ServiceNow development
  • JavaScript

Years of Experience:
  • Minimum of two years as a developer for any ServiceNow ITSM module
