Lab Research Technician

To provide support for many aspects of the daily operation of a Molecular Neurophysiology Lab. You will work as part of a team comprised of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students on a project that aims to understand the molecular mechanisms of neuronal bioenergetics and synaptic pH homeostasis in transgenic Drosophila (fruit flies).

• Knowledge of molecular biology and microscopy techniques and a willingness to learn additional new techniques as needed.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.



SPECIAL REQUIRED ABILITY FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:
Ability to complete and pass successfully the required occupational health screening referenced in the University's Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program on an annual basis. 

REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:

Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.
• BS Degree in a Biological Science
• One Year of previous work as a laboratory or medical technician 

• Able to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Experience in cell culture and animal handling will be beneficial.

• Must have an understanding of molecular biology techniques.
