Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Program Support Technician to provide office support to the Director of Physical Plant Services and the Department Heads that report to the Director of Physical Plant Services in order to provide a safe environment for patients and staff at Western State Hospital (WSH). This position will supervise and assist office personnel in training and the performance of job duties; supervise transportation staff; and assist the maintenance director and department head in the performance of duties.

The Program Support Technician will also input corrective maintenance work orders from a variety of sources (ie call ins/e-mail, request to move equipment, lock change and key requests, etc.); investigate and research to gather data or resolve discrepancies concerning staff requests; close work orders; manage and compile files for various functions (ie equipment, capital outlay, minor construction, etc.); validate billing for central garage pool vehicles, fueling, and trash services; develop and generate reports using TMS; create PM task code by researching equipment manuals for manufacturers specifications; generate work orders; manage and assign project numbers; and audit projects for completion and materials used and accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications

- high school diploma or equivalent
- experience in basic office/booking/accounting
- experience related to the maintenance and construction trades
- previous supervisory experience
- valid Virginia Driver's license
- considerable knowledge of agency and state policies and procedures related to PPS
- working skill to operate office equipment, including automated equipment
- ability to perform detail work with numerical data and prescribed procedures
- ability to collect and organize material for reports by determining what is available and what should be included to present the information in a prescribed, organized, format
- ability to communicate with others effectively
