Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Provides assessment and evaluations on mental health and substance abuse treatment needs and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team in planning and providing care for individuals in the Opioid Treatment Program (OT P). Provides ongoing care for an identified panel of patients which may include individual, group, and family psychotherapy. Assists in ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and policies. Supervises psychology staff and trainees in their provision of clinical services.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead psychologist in the Opioid Treatment Program
  • Participates in huddles, multidisciplinary team meetings, and case conferences; contributes to the development, documentation and implementation of the team's treatment plans for patients.
  • Provides evaluations for provision of mental health services under direction of Program Medical Director
  • Provides ongoing care including: individual, family and collateral treatment, psycho-education and social skills training
  • Consults with other disciplines to address mental health, substance abuse, and medical problems; refers patients to appropriate therapeutic groups
  • Organizes, leads and/or supervises group therapy/therapists in the program
  • Supervises psychology and psychiatry trainees (interns, externs, medical students, and psychiatry residents) assigned to the service
  • Educates and assists staff (addiction counselors, nurses, medical providers, etc.) in recognizing psychiatric illness and requesting appropriate consultation for individuals receiving care in our Opioid Treatment Program
  • Attends appropriate clinic and departmental staff meetings
  • Participates in Performance Improvement Activities within the program and Department of Behavioral Health
  • Maintains focus on key strategic priorities, including patient experience, access to care, increased market share and improving financial stability
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to identify areas of focus including new initiatives, implements outcome measures, aligns work output to meet current standards to ensure optimal financial compensation under general direction of the Program Medical Director
  • Other duties, as needed or assigned, as approved by the department and within the appropriate scope of practice/training/education


Minimum Qualifications
11. Valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED; and
2. Two (2) years of post-licensure experience, one (1) year of which must have been post-licensure supervisory experience; or three (3) years of post-licensure experience; and
3. Completion of the NYC Health + Hospitals Supervisory training within three (3) months of appointment.
