The School of Art at Pratt Institute seeks a Part-time Research Development Specialist (on a one-year contract with the possibility of renewal) to help identify and develop research opportunities and funding for the school and each of its departments. The School's research commitment is linked to the Institute's priorities and the research coordinator will have a consultative relationship with the Institute's Office of Research and Strategic Partnerships.
Position Duties:
  • Assist the Dean in implementing a fundraising strategy in support of the School of Art that fits the structure, research agenda, and strategic goals of the school.
  • Identify opportunities related to the diverse departments in the school and track processes and deadlines related to these opportunities.
  • Meet and correspond with faculty, Chairs, the Office of Research & Strategic Partnerships, and other partners as needed, to help develop, edit and review grant proposals.
  • Coordinate The School of Art Dean's Faculty Research & Innovation Fund.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Research and Strategic Partnerships on the submission of funding proposals. (All proposals at Pratt are submitted through the Office of Research and Strategic Partnerships).
  • Report regularly on progress related to grant opportunities and maintain associated records.
  • Design and lead grant workshops for faculty and staff to help develop the School's capacity to fund its efforts.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree.
  • A record of institutional grants and contracts awarded and advocating for the value of creative work.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications.
  • The ability to be a self-sufficient self-starter.
  • Familiarity with research and the landscape of non-profit funding in the arts and higher education as it relates to innovation, knowledge creation, new technology, and where the arts can address social and environmental issues and contribute to positive change.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of grant writing experience.
SALARY is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range for this position is hourly, $34.03 to $38.41 for approximately 20 hours per week. The position will be onsite 2-3 days/week.
