Job Description

Purpose of Position:

Under supervision:
  • Performs routine work in operating automatic and / or manually operated elevators.
  • Facilitates the storage of decedent remains in the Decedent Holding Area (DHA):
  • Assists in the management of bulk property belonging to patients.

Duties:
  • Operates passenger and/ or freight elevators while exercising care.
  • Answer calls to facilitate the transportation of patients, medical equipment, service staff, and supplies throughout the Bellevue Hospital complex.
  • Maintain accountable logs.
  • When applicable, assist with freight and passengers.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions within the interior and exterior of elevators, DHA, and storage room mile following established cleaning protocols.
  • Report mechanical irregularities and unusual occurrences (malfunctions, breakdowns, chemical spills) to designated response staff.
  • Provide Transport, Pathology, and Administrative staff access to the DHA.
  • Pick-up, drop-off, and dispose patient property according to policy.
  • Meet compliance requirements such as, but not limited to, mandated annual physical evaluations, fire drill participations, Annual In-Service completion, Sexual Harassment and HIPPA Compliance trainings.
