Why does the job exist?

The Staff Manager will:
  • Manage specialized behavioral health programs and services within the public behavioral health system of care to promote quality, enhance provider relationships, and increase access to services to consumers throughout the state;
  • Provide leadership in the development of operational procedures;
  • Provide budget and financial reporting;
  • Oversee Program Coordinators, support their professional development and manage a limited number of programs.


How does it get done?

The Staff Manager is responsible for:
  • Providing supervision and overseeing program managers;
  • Providing participative leadership by interacting effectively and maintaining positive relationships with peers, employees, and customers;
  • Providing supervision and oversight for program managers to support their development and ensure that their programs are executed accordingly;
  • Collaborate with multiple divisions with int the Health Care Authority to include DHI, MAD, as well as the Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD).

  • Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD);
  • Provider Agencies;
  • Consumers.


Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has:
  • Project Management experience to include agendas, task lists, and spreadsheets;
  • A high degree of customer service to include technical assistance and problem solving/resolution;
  • Experience in providing supervision;
  • Specific behavioral health services experience;
  • Contract, budget, and financial experience.


Minimum Qualification

A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of professional level experience operating within parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

• Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.

• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
