Under the supervision of the Staging Presentations and Chamber Support supervisor, The incumbent will be part of a team that has passion for and determination in solving complex information technology (IT) requests for technical support related to hardware and software for the California State Legislature and other support offices. The incumbent will work as a team member responsible for maintaining, testing, and supporting multiple hardware and software platforms, such as desktop computers, mobile devices, laptops, printers, multi-function copiers, in-house applications, and third-party software. The incumbent will be required to analyze, troubleshoot, document, and resolve IT-related requests remotely or on-site. The incumbent will also perform as a business analyst to forecast, research, test, and investigate IT problems and trends, and work collaboratively with peers, other teams, and management. Professional business attire and etiquette are required due to direct customer interaction. Core business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and the incumbent is expected to be available during core hours. However, schedule may be adjusted as overtime on weekdays, weekends, and holidays is required during peak times of the year. Peak times generally fall within the legislative session which is January through October and travel throughout the State of California is expected at times. This position is an onsite and work from home mixture.

Department Information
The Office of Legislative Counsel (OLC) is a small civil service department whose mission is to provide responsive nonpartisan and confidential legal services and information technology support services to the California State Legislature and in support of the legislative process. This position is located in the heart of downtown Sacramento. The State of California provides excellent health benefits and retirement options, sick leave and vacation accrual, and paid state holidays. Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Knowledge of the OLC's business functions.
  • 1+ years of experience in providing desktop troubleshooting support, hardware/software installations and de-installations.
  • 1+ years of experience in providing printer troubleshooting support, installation and configuration.
  • 1+ years of experience in analyzing issues and situations, identifying and solving technical problems, drawing conclusions to the root cause analysis, and documenting as appropriate.
  • 1+ years of experience in providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work long hours, and the ability to travel by vehicle and/or airplane.
  • 1+ years of experience with IOS, AndroidOS, Microsoft Windows OS, and Office products.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting mobile equipment such as smart phones, laptops, and tablets.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement, act independently, solve critical and complex problems, and manage multiple competing priorities .

Your Responsibilities
  • Provide IT hardware support including re-imaging, and technical problem solving.
  • Utilize IT Service Management (ITSM) ticketing system for assignments, communicating with leads, and updating tickets.
  • Provide IT troubleshooting for hardware, software, and mobile devices.
  • Work independently and within a team environment to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve IT problems.
  • Provide testing for upgrades and new technology advancements.
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that adhere to the organization's core values.
  • Travel as needed utilizing various methods such as by foot, vehicle, airplane, etc.
