YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state's environmental laws.

This position is a member of our Program Support and Environmental Assistance division.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Develop and implement the PSEAD annual budget. Coordinate with program managers to plan and/or to forecast budgetary needs; ensure priority issues are addressed and appropriate funding is requested. Prepare budget reports and assists with preparing Legislative Appropriation Requests and related materials
  • Monitor the PSEAD budget to ensure appropriated funding is used; reconcile expenditures with the Uniform State Accounting System (USAS) and CAPPS and recommend adjustments. Prepare and analyze technical amendments, and advise the Director and Section Managers of potential financial planning and budget
  • Assist with overseeing PSEAD federal grants. Coordinate and reconcile budgets for grants, participate in meetings with granting agencies and agency staff. Monitor grant balances to ensure accuracy and appropriate funding use. Keep management informed of grant budget issues.
  • Review purchase requests, travel vouchers and authorization forms to ensure completeness and accuracy. Develop and maintain travel list and track expenditures; develop methods to assist with reallocation of travel funds




Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major course work in business, public administration, or a related field, plus two years of full-time experience in a professional or technical capacity involving budget preparation or analysis.

OR

Three years of full-time experience in auditing, accounting, budget preparation, financial management, statistical analysis; or other responsible analytical or professional work that provided a knowledge of programs, budget procedures, budget execution, budgetary and financial relationships with workloads of organizational elements, organizational structure, and work processes of the organization.

OR

Registration as a Certified Public Accountant or a master's degree from an accredited college or university in public affairs, business administration, public administration, or a related field may be substituted for one year of the experience.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Budget Analyst III-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Budget Analyst III-IV series.
