YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state's environmental laws.

This position is a member of our Monitoring Division.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Plan and perform detailed design and fabrication work for support structures and equipment associated with ambient air and water monitoring sites.
  • Conduct reconnaissance for air monitoring sites and deploy equipment to monitoring sites, including trailers, cabinets, equipment, fencing, and meteorological towers
  • Provide consultation and technical support by telephone to field technicians and operators to troubleshoot and repair equipment and structures
  • Prepare specifications; inspect and evaluate ambient monitoring site preparations, including site pads, electrical work, and fencing.
  • Review and approve contractor activities and provides training to site operators on monitoring equipment. Troubleshoot and repair monitoring equipment to the component level
  • Plan and implement special studies to test new technology, resolve design challenges, and develop specifications for equipment and supplies
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance files, schedule routine vehicle maintenance and repairs, track spending, prepare budget reports, and make recommendations for expenditures




Qualifications:

KEY QUALFIICATIONS

  • Experience with assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical wiring in fixtures, control panels, air conditioning, and/or electrical machinery.
  • Experience with assembly, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with the design, fabrication, and/or repair of metal structures
  • Experience using MIG, TIG, and/or Arc welders.
  • Experience using plasma and/or oxyacetylene cutters


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or its equivalent, plus three years of full-time experience directly related to the examples of work performed.

Fifteen semester hours from and accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience.

OR

Graduation from an accredited vocational, technical, or business school with a certificate of completion; or a certificate of completion from a military technical training program in areas directly related to the examples of work performed, plus one year of full-time experience directly related to the examples of work performed.
