Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide quality directives for administrator, faculty and residents in the Internal Medicine Program at NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County

General Administration:
  • Oversee the quality assurance functions, including to present Kings Executive members and their QA/PI committee the clinical and non-clinical performances of Kings, including clinical indicators and daily metrics
  • Monitor indicator data across Kings using existing platforms in order to assist in developing strategies for improving outcomes such as discharges and Length of Stay.
  • The Associate Director will monitor progress of quality-related activities, highlight successes and address challenges and act as a crucial liaison between Kings and Internal Medicine and its Medical Sub-specialties.
  • Prepare presentations for Hospital Wide Quality initiatives to represent Internal Medicine
  • Plans, directs, supervises, coordinates and reviews work of subordinate administrative personnel relating to assigned tasks and projects. Provides administrative supervision and support to Managers and Practices of direct responsibility.
  • Collects and analyzes data for administrative and fiscal reports, budget preparations and operational and related support services.
  • Assist will all GME requirements for Internal Medicine
  • Oversees performance improvement activities related to practice
  • Liaison with other team leaders (Chief of Services, ADNs, Head Nurse, Other Practice Managers, ED) regarding templates, patient issues, equipment, etc.
  • Coordinates in-service education and training for staff in the practice and monitor compliance.
  • Participates in various workgroups and committees, including but not limited to Patient Experience, Access Initiative, Helping Healers Heal, etc.
  • Facilitates team meetings as necessary and attends management staff meetings, conferences and consults with Medical and Support Services departments
  • Assist in preparing operating plans and drafts of plans, policies, programs and procedures.
  • Maintain a database of resident and preceptor contact information
  • Collaborate with IT and HR departments to ensure resident access to the Electronic Medical Record, Scheduling system, Remote access, Communicate with Residency Coordinators at SUNY Downstate Medical Center to ensure accurate resident-preceptor assignment and timely completion of evaluations
  • Collaborate with community liaisons, chief residents and preceptors to facilitate community events for the residents
  • Instructs residents from foreign countries regarding procedures that must be followed with State licensing board.
  • Be an active member of the Quality Improvement Initiatives to improve clinic efficiency.
  • Process Resident and faculty professional organization memberships.
  • Distribute, collect, and tabulate all evaluation forms regarding residents, rotations and faculty and generates feedback for appropriate follow-up and reporting.
  • participate in daily huddles and team meetings with provision of minutes as appropriate.
  • Other duties as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,
2. Six years of full-time, paid experience of progressively responsible level in hospital administration with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or,
3. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital or Health Administration, Health Care Planning, Public Health, Administrative Medicine, Business Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,
4. Five years of full-time, paid experience as indicated in (2); or,
5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
