Job Description

MAR # 1: General Emergency/Admitting Clerical Functions
• Mini-registration, registration, and admission process activities

o Identify patients using the Check 12 approach.

o Enroll patients via Biometric Palm Scanning during mini-registration and registration process.

o Generate patient wristbands and place the band on the patient's wrist.

o Interview patients thoroughly to ensure the accurate collection and entry of demographic, pharmacy, and

insurance information.

o Explain and obtain e-signature for General Consent, HIPAA Notice of Privacy Protection, and other

consent forms.

o Scan all signed consents into the electronic medical record.

o Orient and educate admitted patients about their rights as inpatients. Provide patients with a complete

admission packet in adherence to H+H Compliance Office and by other external governing bodies.

o Provide all patients with the opportunity to voucher their personal property.

o Utilize down-time procedures when directed

o Perform POS collection of co-payments from patients being seen in the Emergency Department.
• Provide clerical support to the medical providers in the Emergency Department. This includes answering

phones, placing and connecting pages, taking messages, scanning documents, and performing other clerical

tasks as requested.
• Assist providers by scheduling follow-up primary care and specialty care appointments in Bellevue outpatient

clinics or in other H+H facilities after verifying insurance.
• Assist providers in arranging transportation for discharged patients.
• Compile Midnight Census Report if trained and instructed
• Participate in bed-finding activities, assign beds for admitted, and transfer patients.
• Provide clerical coverage to the Emergency Ward as needed.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in the following systems when applicable:

o Bellevue Email (Outlook/Webmail)

o EPIC: Bed planning, Secure chat, ER Registrar and Cadence

Minimum Qualifications
1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and
2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities
