General Information:

The First-Generation Programs Student Assistant will carry out the daily needs of the Reddix Center for First Generation Students and provide office support for the Centennial Scholars Program (CSP) and Valley Scholars. Multiple positions available; must be available to work a consistent schedule during First-Generation Programs' hours of operation (Monday-Thursday 8:00am-9:00pm, Friday 8:00am-3:00pm). Occasional weekend hours may be needed to support university events. Shift lengths will be a minimum of two hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create promotional materials for and communicate with constituents about events/workshops via Canva, social media, MS Teams, email, etc.
• Mentoring first-generation high school students in local schools and assist with program coverage in the Valley Scholars office
• Assist graduate assistant mentors in implementation of workshops: attendance tracking,
materials preparation, setup and breakdown, etc.
• Create and regularly update resources in PowerPoint
• Create and maintain a social media presence for the Reddix Center
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies in both the Reddix Center and CSP
• Maintain First-Generation program spaces: perform opening/closing procedures, keep
spaces tidy, and restock office supplies and snacks
• Support CSP by answering phones, emails, assisting with walk-ins, etc.
• Assist supervisor with other duties as needed to support the Reddix Center, CSP, and
Valley Scholars
• Attend all department meetings and trainings as required

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to take initiative and work well independently
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Detail-oriented
• Previous office support and/or customer service experience preferred but not required

Conditions of Employment:

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).

Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
