Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is recruiting for a HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist Advanced.

Work hours are 6:45am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.

SWC is a state run, licensed and certified Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD). Position Summary

As the HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist-Advanced , you will be responsible for designing, troubleshooting, installing, maintaining, repairing and modifying heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration control systems. You will also monitor and control heating and air conditioning systems using manual controls and computer system, as well as be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of such equipment.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between of $27.17 to $31.27 per hour (approximately between $56,500 and $65,00 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 03/15.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to these positions will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50 pounds, twisting, bending, crawling, crouching and working on a ladder. Applicants will be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

This position may require the ability to wear respirators or a self-contained breathing apparatus.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for these positions, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have both of the following:
  • An EPA Section 608 Technician Certification. If not certified, certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience installing, inspecting, maintaining, operating, and repairing HVAC/Refrigeration systems or equipment, as well as commercial food service equipment.
It'd be great if you also have at least one of the following:
  • Experience reading and understanding mechanical and electrical blueprints.
  • Experience with operation and repair of pneumatic HVAC control systems.
  • Experience with computers and building and automation systems, such as MetaSys.
  • Training or experience with safety and security practices.
