What We Are Seeking: The DATCP's Division of Trade and Consumer Protection Bureau of Weights and Measures is recruiting for a License Permit Program Associate to fill a Limited Term Employment opportunity. This appointment is expected to work up to 20 hours per week with the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week during peak licensing season, limited to 1,039 hours in twelve months from the hire date.

Where We Are Located: This position is located at 2811 Agriculture Drive in Madison, WI. DATCP is in the Prairie Oaks State Office Building situated on Madison's southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51.

Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute up to 6 days per 2-week pay period! An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee's telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who telecommute are required to live in Wisconsin.

Position Summary

This position performs licensing support functions for the Bureau of Weights & Measures licensing areas regulated by the Department. This position works directly with the public in the application process for Vehicle Scales, Vehicle Tanks Meters, and Liquid Propane Gas, and providing regulatory information. This position uses statutes technical knowledge in Weights & Measures, and will have contact with patrons, industry representatives, and other government agencies regarding license program guidelines. This position serves as back up support to the LPPA Senior position, who does permitting for Vehicle Scales, Vehicle Tank Meters, and Liquid Propane Gas.

70% - Program support for Weights & Measures licensing

20% - Receive and Process Open Records requests to assist the Legal department

10% - Assist with administrative work

Salary Information

This classification of this position is License/Permit Program Associate which is in schedule/ range 02-11.

Pay will be $21.66 per hour.

For current and eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan effective at the time of hire.

Job Details

DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.

Applicant must be a resident of Wisconsin (18 years of age or older).

Travel up to 5% of the time is required to attend regional meetings.

Limited term positions are not civil service classified positions, do not have rights to permanent civil service classified positions, and do not lead to permanent status.

This position is Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).

Qualifications

  • Experience handling multiple assignments and inquiries simultaneously while ensuring deadlines were met.

  • Experience working in an office environment performing administrative program support (i.e., filing/saving documents, receiving/routing mail, answering telephone calls and emails, etc.).

  • Experience working with various computer programs, such as Microsoft Office applications or similar, for emails, word processing, data entry, maintenance of spreadsheets, creating reports, etc.

  • Experience providing customer service and establishing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
