Job Summary

Our research efforts focus on the human cancer microenvironment with the goal of understanding genetic, epigenetic, and metabolic nature of human tumor immune responses and developing mechanism-informed combination therapies for cancer. Laboratory specialists work both individually and as part of a team to perform experiments, collect data, and critically analyze results.

Responsibilities*
  • Perform independent research projects.
  • Perform chemical and physical analyses and tests required for research.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpreted results.
  • Apply basic and advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment.
  • Perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across projects.
  • Write manuscripts, give presentations and poster talks.

Required Qualifications*
  • Doctorate in Biology or similar field
  • 4-5 years of experience in a related field
  • Several years of postdoctoral training in immunology/immunotherapy
  • The candidate must be highly motivated to work independently and as part of a team
  • Recent experience and publications in tumor and cancer immunology

Modes of Work

Additional Information

This position is term-limited until Jan 31,2026. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
