Why does the job exist?

The Social & Community Services Coordinator - Supervisor/Prevention Manager will:
  • Be responsible for supervising staff, fiscal and contractual management, plan strategically and ensure prevention projects adhere to state policy and federal requirements for grant deliverables;
  • Manage the Constituent Services for the Behavioral Health Services Division;
  • Respond to constituent concerns from the Heath Care Authority (HCA) call center, HSD Office of the Secretary (OOS), Governor's office, and direct work with the BH provider Network;
  • Serve as subject matter expert in clinical services and the operations of behavioral health agencies;
  • Be responsible to review critical incident reports and constituent concerns and ensure timely responses;
  • Oversee the clinical operations manager and the business operation manager.

The Social & Community Services Coordinator - Supervisor/Prevention Manager is responsible for:
  • Staff supervision to manage labor needs for prevention projects;
  • Financial management to insure fiscal accountability;
  • Contractual management to maintain state federal requirements;
  • Strategic planning to establish effective delivery of services across prevention priorities;

  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.


  • Ideal Candidate

    The Ideal Candidate has:
    • Experience managing complex substance abuse prevention projects;
    • Fiscal and programmatic management experience with federal grants;
    • Combining strategic thinking with attention to detail;
    • Good written and verbal communication skills with a variety of stakeholder, settings and projects;
    • The ability to find creative solutions to problems.


    Minimum Qualification

    Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care.     Employment Requirements

    Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
