This job posting will be utilized for multiple vacancies. Focused on Health, economic and community development outreach.

The State Office of African American Affairs (OAAA) is charged with studying, identifying and providing possible solutions to issues of concern that is relevant to the African American Community. The New Mexico OAAA recognizes the need for targeted intervention strategies that address the produce sustained results. To that end, New Mexico OAAA endeavors to establish approaches that will strengthen collaborative networks that sustain on-going advocacy in the following focus areas: Advocacy and Policy, Community Development, Economic Development, Education Advancement, and Health Awareness.

Why does the job exist?

The Social and Community Service Coordinator positions focus on the following areas: Health Outreach, Economic Outreach, and Community Outreach. These positions will plan, organize and implement OAAA programs which will serve the Black/African American population statewide. Each position will develop interventions and strategies aimed at positively transforming communities. In addition, each position will provide resources which promote the remaining focus areas: Advocacy and Policy and Education Advancement.

How does it get done?

* Work with stakeholders and partners in the planning and execution of focus area related programs and events that impact the community with an emphasis on marginalized and underrepresented Black/African American population.
* Attend and participate in focus area related community and statewide meetings.
* Conduct presentations about OAAA programs.
* Develop strategies for engagement with local and state government.
* Establish and build new agency collaborations and partnerships.
* Attend state and community events.

This job is done for the marginalized and underrepresented Black/African American population, communities, and entrepreneurs and Black business owners in New Mexico statewide.

Ideal Candidate

* Networking and working collaboratively with community leaders, organizations and government agencies

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is performed both in an office and out in the community with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage. This position will also require occasional lifting up to 50 pounds or less. This position is required to travel and work non-traditional hours due to programming.
