Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital. Job Description

This class of positions encompasses clerical related office activities utilizing manual and automated office systems; duties may include supervision of employees performing routine tasks appropriate to each Assignment Level. There are three Assignment Levels within this class of positions. The following are typical assignments within this class of positions. All personnel perform related work.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Running daily report for One Day Admissions and Discharges.
2. Updating database with physician responses to discharges.
3. Tracking denials pending creation.
4. Creating external appeals with the New York State Department of Finance.
5. Preparing appeal packages to mail for external appeals vendor.
6. Verifying patient claim status via phone.
7. Checking claim appeals status.
8. Creating Medical necessity denials on EPIC and on Vendor site.
9. Updating denials according to their new status.
10. Uploading/Scanning all documents into EPIC.
11. Managing medical records requests and medical record printing projects.
12. Making follow- up calls to insurance and patients.
13. Preparing forms that need supervisor approval.
14. Sorting and distributing electronic mail.
15. Picking- up appeals from other departments.
16. Attending all necessary training sessions to effectively perform the day-to-day functions of the
position.
17.Other related projects as assigned by Assistant Coordinating Manager and Coordinating Manager-
Level A.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and
2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
