Expected salary ranges:

Construction Records Auditor I - (B18) $42,521 - $67,671

Construction Records Auditor II - (B19) $45,244 - $72,408

Construction Records Auditor III - (B20) $48,158 - $77,477

Construction Records Auditor IV - (B21) $51,278 - $82,901

Position Description

Audits construction project records; verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements and trains others. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:

Construction Records Auditor I

  • Performs and reviews construction records audits and coordinates with area engineers on monthly and final estimates, change orders, supplemental agreements and work orders.
  • Advises contractors' bookkeepers on record-keeping procedures.
  • May serve as District DBE coordinator.
  • Verifies contractors' compliance with federal requirements for EEO and on-the-job training, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise programs.
  • Trains less experienced recordkeepers and records auditors.
  • Participates in meetings regarding contract administration.
  • Prepares related correspondence and reports.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.


Construction Records Auditor II

In addition to the requirements for a Construction Records Auditor I:

  • Assists area engineers by providing direction and technical expertise in resolving contract administration problems.
  • Performs final review of contracts.
  • Represents the District at meetings regarding contract administration.


Construction Records Auditor III

In addition to the requirements for a Construction Records Auditor I, II

  • Acts as a liaison and assists with Federal Highway Administration and departmental reviews of construction records.


Construction Records Auditor IV

In addition to the requirements for a Construction Records Auditor I, II, III

  • Coordinates the work of recordkeepers and/or records auditors and support staff.
  • May serve as Project Leader or Lead Worker.
  • May lead project or planning activities of professional and technical employees.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.

Experience:

Construction Records Auditor I - None

Construction Records Auditor II - 1 year Record-keeping, bookkeeping, auditing or other related experience.

Construction Records Auditor III - 2 years Record-keeping, bookkeeping, auditing or other related experience.

Construction Records Auditor IV - 3 years Record-keeping, bookkeeping, auditing or other related experience.

Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent. Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

  • Reviewing plans for accuracy and ensuring compliance with requirements


Construction Records Auditor III

In addition to the competencies for a Construction Records Auditor I, II

  • Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints and maps
  • Establishing plans and setting objectives and goals that support overall business strategy/results; anticipating and adjusting for problems/roadblocks
  • Analyzing issues, facts, and available information to develop logical solutions; researching inconsistencies of facts or data; drawing correct inferences from information and making recommendations that support business decisions


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Lift up to 20 lbs. at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Standing prolonged periods of time
  • Repetitive Motion - substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers
  • Close Visual Acuity - work includes data/figures; view a computer screen, extensive reading
