The Social & Community Services Coordinator - Advanced/Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, (TANF) Coordinator is responsible for:
- Coordinating all aspects of the New Mexico Works (NMW) Program and Education Works Program (EWP);
- Maintaining the integrity of all programs that the Income Support Division(ISD) administers while providing the best customer service;
- Ensuring that field staff receive the necessary support, so they can administer each program accurately and efficiently;
- Ensuring that activities are performed by adhering to established governmental laws.
How does it get done?
The Social & Community Services Coordinator - Advanced/Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, (TANF) Coordinator will:
- Coordinate with ISD management on program vision and direction;
- Develop innovative methods to improve participation rates and other program shortfalls;
- Monitor and evaluate state and federal legislative decisions and ensure timely compliance;
- Research state and federal program laws and requirements;
- Write and publish required policy changes and updates following the designated New Mexico Administrative Code procedures;
- Be proactive in meeting training needs to address under-performance to ensure error prevention;
- Authorize monitor and report on Hardship Waiver requests.

- Health Care Authority (HCA) internal staff, customers, federal partners, and external partners.

- In policy research and the ability to provide compliance and implement ideas;
- Problem-solving and making recommendations based on policy, and research and date;
- Effectively managing a workload through the efficient utilization of available resources;
- Demonstrating excellent communication and organizational skills;
- Multi-tasking and effectively managing several projects whilst meeting deadlines;
- Working with public assistance programs;
- In fiscal management.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. • Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.
