KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in low level information technology (IT) support for 1 year.
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to analyze and create effective resolution.
  • Researching/evaluating/interpreting information related to the selection of information technology equipment.
  • Customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.


HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...

  • Provide a primary point of contact for division customer service and user inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation, and the use and interface of systems and software applications. Submit Computer Access Request Forms (CARF) for onboarding, separations and access request as needed. Research technical issues, troubleshoots problems, and assists IR in resolving computer, software, and printer problems for the division.
  • Maintain and update division inventory tracking systems and review and ensure the accuracy of data, including physical inventory counts and reconciliation. Review and manage request submitted to the APD Support App by staff and management, including request related to inventory, support and personnel. Installs/uninstalls equipment, furniture, materials, and surplus items during division moves. Works with Information Resources (IR) staff to facilitate division computer deployments.
  • Lead or coordinate the check-out and maintenance of agency and division assets. Assist in division testing when upgrading new and existing hardware and software. Assist in the review and recommendation of division procurement and inventory of hardware and software. Provide technical assistance to division purchaser when reviewing software purchases for the division.
  • Prepare, update, interpret, and disseminate report, reference materials, and information regarding seniority, office assignments, and division employee changes. Update division organization chart. Update and maintain CARF templates for all APD sections and teams, providing and updating technical descriptions of software and access regularly used.
  • Assist or participate in information technology projects to develop enhancements to division business and technical processes and information systems. Develop and maintain technical documentation and user guidance. Provide training and mentoring in the use of newly developed or updated information systems.




Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) years of full-time experience in data processing AND assisting users in computer application use OR in troubleshooting computer systems problems (hardware/software).


OR

Fifteen semester hours in computer science from an accredited college or university, or 300 clock hours in computer science from a licensed vocational, technical, or business school, and two (2) years of full-time experience in data processing AND assisting users in computer application use OR troubleshooting computer systems problems (hardware/software).

OR

  • An associate degree in computer science and one (1) year of full-time experience in data processing AND assisting users in computer application use OR troubleshooting computer systems problems (hardware/software).


OR

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science.


OR

  • One (1) year of full-time experience in TCEQ as an IT Support Specialist III.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the IT Support Specialist IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the IT Support Specialist IV series.
