Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital. Job Description

A member of the revenue cycle process, the Coordinating Manager Level B, using independent initiative & judgement & reporting to the Associate Director Level lll, assists in the planning, organizing, controlling & coordination of Patient Accounts' activities relating to billing, follow-up & denials management. Coordinating Manager Level B utilizes the hospital's financial management system (Epic) through work queues & reports to ensure revenue is maximized & goals are met with both quality & quantity & performs other related duties, as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support Associate Director, Level III, in day-to-day management of Managed Care Billing & Specialty Billing & Follow-Up teams.
  • Export weekly Epic AR Dashboard report for Billing and Specialty teams to ensure we are meeting the CFB target and resolving Denials timely.
  • Collaborate with Patient Accounts Teams in analyzing denial trends & conduct root cause analysis & resolution approach.
  • Responsible for reviewing accounts on independent Dispute Resolution (lDR) WQ 24303 & performing follow-up in accordance with IDR process requirements; Participates in RCS IDR Webex/meetings.
  • Review & assist with Contact move cases.
  • Back up for Rollback WQ 22955, Organ Procurement WQ 5088, Missing Bed Charges WQ 6196 & 6197.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams in Patient Accounts & other departments to build knowledge & resolve claims issues.
  • Provide technical assistance, with claim errors & denials; conduct training via Webex & in-person.
  • Participates & represents Patient Accounts in various H+H Revenue Cycle Services meetings.
  • Attends all necessary training sessions to effectively perform day- to- day functions of the position.
  • Performs other related duties or projects as assigned by the Associate Director, Level III.


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and
2. Two (2) years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment, one (1) year of which included experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in such occupations as physical, occupational, inhalation, speech and audiology therapy or as Medical/Laboratory Technologist, Microbiologist (various specialties), Chemist (biochemist), Radiation and X-Ray Technician; or two (2) years of responsible level experience in business management systems or general administration including one (1) year in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
3. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in "1" above; and
4. Three (3) years of full-time experience, as described in "2" above, including two (2) years of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in occupations, as listed in "2" above; or
5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

Note: Certification or licensure may be required.

Department Preferences

EDUGATIONAL LEVEL:
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and
2. Three (3) years of full-time experience in medically oriented health care and medical support systems environment, two (2) years of which included experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in such occupations as physical, occupational, inhalation, speech and audiology therapy or as Medical/Laboratory Technologist, Microbiologist (various specialties), Chemist (biochemist), Radiation and X-Ray Technician; or three (3) years of responsible level experience in business management systems or general administration including two (2) years in supervisory or administrative capacity or;
3. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in the disciplines listed in "1" above; and
4. Two (2) years of full-time experience as described in "1" above, including one (1) year experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in the occupations as listed in "1" above; or
5. Satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

KNOWLEDGEABLE IN: a Basics of Hospital's Revenue Cycle & general principles of hospital's billing & follow-up requirements.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
1. Strong organization & communication skills (written & oral);
2. Computer literate;
3. Prior experience working within electronic medical record & financial management system in hospital or physician office setting preferred but not required.
4. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
