Job Description:

Established in 2022, the Hamilton Center is a multidisciplinary academic unit whose purpose is to support teaching and research concerning the ideas, traditions, and texts that shape Western civilization and American values and institutions. The Center also seeks to promote civil discourse and the ethics of citizenship, and to prepare students to see past their horizons and prepare for a lifetime of leadership and meaningful careers.

The Center seeks to fill several Federal Work-Study student assistant positions for a variety of duties including, but not limited to:
  • Greeting and directing Center visitors
  • Assisting with Center correspondence (written, verbal, electronic)
  • Assisting with Center events, activities, programs and meetings
  • Handling and processing of mail/packages
  • Assisting with Center-specific paperwork management and other documentation (copying, scanning, filing, disposal)
  • Completing data entry and various tasks in the Microsoft suite
  • Keeping the workspace tidy and presentable; monitor inventory of supplies
  • Assisting with faculty needs (ex. office moves)
  • Tabling for the Center at campus events (ex. Preview)
  • Liaison for Center across campus (social, academic, extracurricular, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Expected Salary:

$13.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • Be enrolled as a current UF student during the Fall 2024/Spring 2025 semester and throughout the applicant's term of employment.
  • Students must be able to work 15 - 20 hours per week; Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. No exceptions.
  • Provide documentation of Federal Work Study award.
  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative G.P.A.
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University with no repeated violations of University Code of Student Conduct.
  • Have comfortability with Microsoft suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Works well with the public, demonstrates professional etiquette in person, on the phone, and virtually
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Dependable work-ethic and professional demeanor
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft suite (especially Word and Excel)
