TELEWORK

Staff who work in the Austin Metro will work in-office for one day, every other week, for a collaboration day as well as on an as-needed basis.

As part of TCEQ's Office of Air, you would contribute to protecting and restoring Texas' air quality.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience documenting processes or hardware requirements.
  • Experience using database software.
  • Experiencing developing databases and/or databases.
  • Experience querying and analyzing technical data
  • Experience using SQL and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).


HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...

  • Design new systems for collecting, tracking, and analyzing Texas Voluntary Marginal Conventional Well (TXMCW) project data. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to identify system requirements and develop functional design specifications to meet requirements. Prepare and define the goals of the system and devises flow charts and diagrams describing the logical operational steps.
  • Develop and implements systems and applications using object-oriented programming languages, client-server application development processes, multimedia, and Internet technology. Prepare test cases, coordinate user testing, and devises solutions to problems/issues encountered during user testing.
  • Perform enhancements and/or maintenance to systems and applications to ensure methods, processes, or systems evolve with the business needs of the TXMCW and Federal Grants Section.
  • Create regular and ad-hoc reports for internal stakeholders within established time frames. Perform quality assurance and control of data entered into systems and applications to ensure the highest-level of accuracy. Assist section management and staff in the organization, analysis, and preparation of information in response to internal and external program inquiries and required reports to the Department of Energy.
  • Coordinate, plan, and schedules training for Federal Grant Section staff to review and demonstrate functionality of systems and applications. Drafts user guides for systems and applications and identifies best practices for entering data into systems and applications.




Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Three years of full-time experience in systems administration, business process analysis and modeling, application development, or system and application design.


OR

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university, or technical college with a major in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, or a related field.


OR

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or technical college with a major in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, or a related field plus one year of the required experience.


OR

Completion of 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, or a related field plus two years of the required experience.

Career Ladder Progression

  • One year of full-time TCEQ experience as a Systems Analyst II.

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Systems Analyst IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Systems Analyst IV series.
