New Mexico Crime Victims Reparation Commission (CVRC) is dedicated to providing a variety of services to victims of crime. CVRC was formed in 1981 under the Crime Victims Reparation Act. Our primary mission is to provide financial assistance to victims of violent crime in regard to expenses incurred as a result of being victimized.

Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to assist victims of crime with the victim compensation application process to collect data and create and maintain the Crime Victims application database. The incumbent is responsible for analyzing information and compile victim data accurately. This position also provides the department with tracking and statistical information reporting.

How does it get done?

This position will perform the following:

* Manage the filing system and applications for victims of crime to ensure their completeness and accuracy.
* Prepare initial correspondence to victims of crime.
* Enter and upload victim compensation applications into victim compensation database.
* Assign compensation applications to state investigators.
* Manage the maintenance of victim files and preparation of victim files to be archived.
* In charge of all compensation records management for the purpose of following the state archive process in accordance with State Archives and Record Center.
* Serves as backup for Administrative Secretary when absent.
* Provides assistance to staff in the daily functioning of the office and ensures that the office performs in an efficient manner.
* Record minutes at the monthly Commission Meeting as needed.

Minimum Qualification

Associates degree and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Lifting up to 20 pounds. Occasional travel and driving.
