This position exists to ensure the seamless operation and administrative efficiency of the Training Bureau. By handling a wide range of responsibilities, from procurement and financial management to educational record tracking and program oversight, the role provides essential support that enables the Training Bureau to function smoothly. The position ensures that all necessary resources are procured and managed efficiently, compliance with regulations is maintained, and critical programs such as the Tribal Commission and VA benefits are administered with precision. The position's role will focus on tracking and analyzing recruit attrition rates is vital for developing strategies to improve retention, which directly impacts the NMSP's ability to maintain a well-trained agency. Ultimately, this position exists to support the Training Bureau¿s mission by ensuring that all administrative processes are executed with accuracy, timeliness, and strategic oversight, contributing to the overall effectiveness and sustainability of the department.
How does it get done?
This position plays a critical role in supporting the operational and administrative functions of the Training Bureau. Responsibilities include preparing internal purchase requisitions for goods and services, ensuring timely management of purchase orders, and maintaining accurate financial records to meet fiscal year obligations. The role also involves managing and overseeing the college credit hours for all New Mexico State Police (NMSP) recruits and officers, ensuring that educational records are accurately tracked and reported. Additionally, the position oversees the Tribal Commission Program, managing the intake and processing of commission requests, maintaining compliance with department policies, and proposing program improvements. It also includes overseeing the VA benefits for recruits, managing the NMSP Longevity and NMLERF programs, and maintaining records related to recruit attrition rates. The individual will conduct data analysis, prepare detailed reports, and collaborate with academy staff to develop strategies aimed at reducing recruit attrition. The position demands a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality.

The customers are the New Mexico State Police Training and Recruiting Staff, recruits, and general public.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position would be a seasoned Administrative Manager with extensive experience in law enforcement or military settings. This individual would have a proven track record in procurement and financial management, ensuring that all resources are secured and managed in alignment with fiscal year obligations. They would also bring expertise in educational program coordination, skilled at tracking and verifying college credit hours for recruits and officers, and ensuring compliance with department standards. Have strong analytical skills, so they would excel in monitoring and analyzing recruit attrition rates, developing data-driven strategies to enhance retention. This candidate would need to demonstrate exceptional organizational abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, to make the perfect fit to support the Training Bureau¿s mission and contribute to the overall goals of the NMSP.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's Licenses, a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of employment. Continued employment is subject to a National fingerprint-based records check withing 30-days of assignment and contingent upon remaining felony-free, per Section 5.12.1.1 of the Criminal Justice Information System Security Policy. Occasional overtime and travel may be required.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminal (VDT) and extensive computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
