Why does the job exist?

The Comprehensive Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Program Coordinator will:
  • Oversee services related to the CCBHC Planning Grant;
  • Coordinate all project services and activities and support the advancement of project(s) goals and objectives, through daily oversight, for the Behavioral Health Sevices Divsion (BHSD).


How does it get done?

The CCBHC Program Coordinator is responsible for:
  • Providing intensive support for the project under direction of the Project Director/Staff Manager and perform duties of a similar nature and level as assigned;
  • Direct oversight of project budget, contracts, operations and staff, including: coordination of program initiatives; establishment of protocols for implementation; maintenance of positive relationships and collaboration with program partners; and participation in strategic planning and long-term sustainability goals for the life of the grant;
  • Leading the project steering committee meetings and represent the project at the NM Behavioral Health Collaborative;
  • Possibly traveling between project sites;
  • Supporting the advancement of project(s) goals and objectives through daily oversight;
  • Serving the Health Care Authority (HCA) BHSD, BHSD Program Managers, Vendors contracted with BHSD for CCBHC services, the BHSD Finance Team, Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Grant Project officer, The Medical Assistance Division (MAD), The Department of Health (DOH) and The Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD);
  • Providing support for the project under direction of the Project Director/Staff Manager and perform duties of a similar nature and level as assigned;
  • Participating in strategic planning and long-term sustainability goals for the life of the grant.

Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate has:
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Experience with The New Mexico Behavioral Health System;
  • Experience with statewide CCBHC resources and service including Crisis Services, Outpatient mental Health & Substance Use Services, Case Management and Care Coordination;
  • Knowledge of Federally funded behavioral health initiatives;
  • Knowledge of day-to-day operations of Grant oversight;
  • Project Management & supervision experience;
  • Knowledge of: The statewide Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) issues, and available resources and services throughout New Mexico, including licensing and credentialing requirements for CCBHC providers;
  • Knowledge of behavioral health treatment and best practices;
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities and problem-solving skills;
  • The ability to work collaboratively with state agencies, project partners, and other agencies and stakeholders that are engaged with the homeless population;
  • Knowledge of State Personnel Act and State Personnel Board Rules;
  • Knowledge of Public Employee Relations Rules, and Public Employee Bargaining Act and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) for the State.
  • The Ability to adhere to strict deadlines;
  • Skills for providing exceptional customer service.


Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.
