YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state's environmental laws.

This position is a member of our Critical Infrastructure division.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Conduct detailed engineering inspections and/or evaluations of existing dams to determine safety; prepare report, recommendations, and corrections. Interact with owners and their engineers to complete engineering assessments of dams.
  • Oversee inspections of dams under construction and/or modification to determine if construction meets the approved plans and engineering practices; develop letters and propose appropriate recommendations for correction
  • Complete routine hydrologic, hydraulic, and structural studies as needed, for proposed and existing dams
  • Review and evaluate engineering reports submitted by dam owners and engineers.
  • Review and evaluate emergency action plans for compliance with statutes, rules, and engineering standards
  • Respond to requests for information regarding dam safety, prepare correspondence regarding engineering issues involving dam safety. Provide technical assistance and public outreach to dam owners, engineering consultants, other stakeholders, and the public
  • Participate in public education programs
  • Assist in maintaining the Texas Inventory of Dams database files.




Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Engineer I

Texas Professional Engineers license.

Engineer II

Texas Professional Engineers license plus one year of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure.

Qualifying work experience includes that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.

OR

Career Ladder Progression: One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer I.

Engineer III

Texas Professional Engineers license plus two years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure.

Qualifying work experience includes that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.

OR

Career Ladder Progression: One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer II..

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer I - Engineer V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineer I - Engineer V series.
