Why does the job exist?

The Financial Coordinator - Advanced will:
  • Ensure accuracy of all financial transactions as they are recorded in the General ledger for each of the various Health Care Authority (HCA) funds;
  • Prepare consistent and timely reconciliations of the General Ledger, monthly trial balances by fund and the preparation of year-end financial statements for the agency;
  • Reconcile third party interface systems to the Statewide Human Resources Accounting Reporting (SHARE) general ledger and reconciliations of financial accounts.


How does it get done?

The Financial Coordinator - Advanced is responsible for:
  • Coordinating financial data, preparing monthly general ledger reconciliations for multiple complex programs ensuring accuracy of the general ledger;
  • Preparing monthly trial balances for assigned major funds;
  • Ensuring audit requirements are met and the preparation of financial statements and audit schedules for the assigned funds;
  • Ensuring the Agency complies with all state and federal rules and regulations while effectively working and communicating with other Bureaus and Divisions within the Agency.

  • Ideal Candidate

    The Ideal Candidate has:
    • Accounting experience, including reconciliation of accounting entries;
    • Analytical and critical thinking skills;
    • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills;
    • Ability to multi-task;
    • SHARE experience;
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.


    Minimum Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration and five (5) years of directly related experience in budgeting, accounting and/or auditing. For use at the State Investment Council Only: any budgeting, accounting and/or auditing experience is acceptable. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

    Employment Requirements

    Must possess and maintain valid driver's license.

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
