Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for ensuring that purchase requests for tangible personal property and services adhere to the New Mexico State Procurement Code, Procurement Rules and Regulations, Model of Accounting Practices, and all other state or federal laws, rules or regulations including applicable federal grant awards.
How does it get done?
This position will be responsible for purchase requisitions submitted by the divisions of the NM Veterans Services for good and/or services; will process complex purchase requests utilizing general and grant funding sources; analyze purchase requests and available budget; audit contracts; route for approval and provide supporting documentation. This position will process invoices and create payment vouchers, generate budget reports, review budget and accounting reports, process travel request, manage vehicle fleet and attend regular ASD staff meetings. Will work with CFO and division personnel to track monthly purchase orders and communicate concerns, close out purchase orders monthly as needed and will assist Division Heads with their purchasing questions and needs.

The NM Department of Veterans Services divisions and the vendors/subcontractors anticipating payment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be someone who has the ability to work in a team environment, has SHARE financial experience, strong written and oral communications skills, and familiarity with NM Procurement Processes.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting and Finance and two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement and/or warehouse clerking. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.
