Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Due to available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $29.99 per hour.
Why does the job exist?
This position will assist in the review of facility classification requests, assessments, and movement of inmates
in prison facilities statewide.
How does it get done?
* Assist in training newly hired classification staff and academy officer cadets.
* Review of restrictive housing units to ensure proper placement of inmates in a timely manner.
* Review of all special management placements and maintenance of files and records of all placements
approved or denied.
* Work with current Duran settlement, also known as second revised settlement agreement (SRSA).
Who are the customers?
The New Mexico Corrections Department facilities.
Ideal Candidate
Experience in the following:
* Assisting interdisciplinary teams in the evaluation of offenders
* Participating in follow-up services and providing monitoring of offenders
* Inmate Classification process
* The reentry process
* Application of Good Time Laws
* Monitoring activities using a tracking system
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Guidance and Counseling, Penology, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Family Studies/Services, Criminology, or related field as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and experience in a related field and/or experience in a correctional setting, records management, file auditing, case management, law enforcement, counseling, social work, government assistance programs, rehabilitative environment, working on health or social service-related matters, behavioral health, policy and/or statutory compliance totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education.

Education Experience 1 High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 4 years of experience 2 Associate's degree AND 2 years of experience 3 Bachelor's degree or higher AND 0 years of experience
• Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Employment Requirements
This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing,
in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol
and/or drug testing.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with
inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays,
and weekends.
