As part of TCEQ's Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, physical science, environmental science, or a related field.

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer Specialist I-V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Permit Specialist I-V series.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geology or chemistry.
- Training and/or experience performing research, investigation, or analysis of technical information.
- Training and/or experience using Microsoft products.
- Training and/or experience interpreting environmental rules and/or regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...
- Review and evaluate permit applications, reports, certifications, and other submittals for waste management, including regulatory classification and status of waste pursuant to state and federal regulations and statutes for the TCEQ.
- Provide information concerning authorizations and authorization processes to internal and external customers through verbal communication, correspondence, meetings, presentations, and public hearings.
- Assist customers on the waste permits program through verbal communication, correspondence, data reports, presentations, and responses to Public Information Requests.
- Participate in special projects, such as maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance document development, and streamlining work processes.
